Just when you thought that there could not be one more story about World War II, this novel comes along, and what a surprise.
Beginning
The novel FOR THOU ART WITH ME opens with a one page chapter set in 1935. The next sequence is in 1992 at a summer airshow in fictional Mudford, California. Secondary character Ernie meets an older family friend, Darla, who spins her yarn about what she and her family and friends did during World War II.
Novel's Main Sequence
The story flashes back to 1940 and 1941, and through the war years for most of the body of the book. Ernie learns of the war experiences of his father and their friends. It changes him. Darla is surprised in the end also. The author was challenged by writing the main character as a female. It is her story and essentially her point of view.
